Alexander McQueen Resort 2017 Review
The strength of the collection that was designed by Sarah Burton, English fashion designer, is the extreme care for materials and a high quality workmanship. In 2017 resort collection, Sarah Burton, who is also the creative director of Alexander McQueen was inspired by British folk art and domestic interiors (wallpaper and patterns on canal barges).
In the look above, you are wrong if you think that it was just a dress that is made of printed fabric with ruffles everywhere, you are wrong. This dress is made of leather, the flowers are either embroidered or painted. The mixtures of carnations, yellow roses, peonies, and poppies, each petal expertly defined with an artist’s paint brush.
The basic color of this collection are black, red, and white, while the details color are vermilion, cement grey, ochre, baby pink, light blue, grass green, and blue. The shape of this collection are egg-shaped, A-line, puffed sleeves, asymmetrical, tiered, ruffles, and tapered. Materials that are used in this collection are leather, knits, tulle, silk, tweed, wool, cotton, broderie anglaise, brushed wool, lace, crochet, crystals, rhinestones, sequins and metal details.
The shapes of this collection are opulent, dramatic and often play with the volumes of puffed sleeve and maxi decorative ruffles. While long dresses are an explosion of metal appliques, gems, rhinestones, and sequins that caress and at the same tie decorate the body, enhancing it, in the name of colour and an imaginative elegance which transports us into an almost dreamlike dimension.
